1Display cue cards at your ceremony
2Have an Artist Paint Your Ceremony
3Send Save the Dates that are a little cheeky
Get your guests laughing and excited long before the wedding day begins with a creative Save the Date.
4Opt for an anniversary pinata instead of a traditional guest book
5Surprise your guests with a late-night food truck
6Give your pet a role
We’re seeing dogs more and more at weddings — and they do make the most adorable ring bearers — but your cats don’t have to be left out! You can incorporate the pets into the wedding in other ways too, such as paw- or bone-shaped cookies for dessert or cat toys for favors.
7Have your reception at a bowling alley!
8Send your guests Mad Lib RSVPs
You and your guests can both personalize your RSVP cards any way you’d like with these fun Mad Libs cards. Hang them up at the reception so guests can enjoy reading them too. You could even hold a contest for the best response, and let your guests vote on their favorite.
9Who says flower girls have an age limit?
10 Provide entertainment with nostalgic cootie catchers
Include questions on the cootie catchers that relate to the bride and groom’s relationship for a fun way for guests to pass time and get to know the couple a little better!
11Make word search napkins
12Better yet, showcase a full-size The Price is Right wheel
The only thing that could make this game better is if the groom’s last name is Price, and the wedding’s hashtag is a play on “The Price is Right.”
13Make your own bouquet
Set out vases with different flowers at the back of the seats before the ceremony and ask guests who will be sitting in the aisle to pick their favorite flower. As the bride walks down the aisle, she can collect the flowers from guests and create her own bouquet as she walks. This super sweet addition to the ceremony will help guests feel more connected with the bride and groom and will make the whole day that much more personal.
14Ride into your reception
15Liven-up your photo booth
16Life-size lawn games
You can find Jenga, Connect-4, Tic-Tac-Toe and tons of other giant games that your guests (of all ages!) will enjoy playing during cocktail hour. You can even find life-size Yahtzee! and Scrabble games. If you have a little time on your hands, you can create your own scavenger hunt and hide items around the reception area for your guests to discover. They don’t have to be related to your wedding — although a scavenger hunt that tells the story of your and your spouse’s relationship would be sweet and memorable.
17Give hangover helper kits
18Have a taco bar at your reception
19Plant a tree
During your ceremony or reception, plant a tree with your new spouse. You can turn this into a unity ceremony, or just have it be a loving display of your commitment to each other and future together. Planting a tree during your wedding is a beautiful representation of the two of you planting your own strong roots in order to grow together.
20 Release biodegradable balloons
We love to release things like balloons and lanterns at weddings. They do make for lovely send-off scenes. Some people even release doves. However, letting loose plastic or latex or other items like that can be very harmful to the environment. Fortunately, you can now find biodegradable balloons so you can still have a beautiful send-off without worrying about the effect you’re having. The balloons pictured above are dove-shaped and look like they’re actually flying when you release them!
21Have a DIY ribbon wand craft
